    The unit is responsible for identifying opportunities for protecting the knowledge and results generated by the Institute by registering them as intellectual property, a crucial step to enable their subsequent industrial exploitation. It is thus responsible in defining the strategic policies for patents and technology transfer, identifying the inventions eligible for patent protection and drafting the necessary applications.
