Margot Segura was born in Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1969.
She obtained her BSc Graduate in Chemistry (1992) and her M.Sc. degree (1993) from the University of Granada, Spain, being awarded from the Mathematics, Physical-Chemistry and Natural Sciences Academy of Granada with the Diploma Price 1992 and The Excellency Award for Graduate Students.
In 1998 she obtained her Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain, working on molecular recognition of oxoanions from phosphodiesters, uronic acids and dipeptides, under the supervision of Prof. Javier de Mendoza, being assistant professor at the same university during 1998.
After postdoctoral research at University of Parma, Italy (1998-2000) working on carbohydrate recognition in water in the group of Prof. Rocco Ungaro, she joined again de Mendoza's group in Madrid as a postdoctoral researcher (2000-2003), leading a project on supramolecular donor-acceptor electroactive systems linked by multiple hydrogen-bonding. In March 2004 she joined the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia as Group Coordinator at Prof. de Mendoza's group.
Since April 2007, she is the Administrative Director of ICIQ.
