ICIQ's Research Support Area provides the scientific instrumentation needed to carry out the research at the Institute.

The Area started its activities at the same time as the research groups in 2004 and it is divided into eight Units, each one dedicated to a specific technic or to a group of related techniques: X-Ray Diffraction, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Chemical Reaction Technologies, Chromatography, Thermal Analysis and Electrochemistry, Spectroscopy and Reaction Kinetics, Heterogeneous Catalysis, Photophysics , Mechanical Workshop and Glass Blowing Workshop.
Specialized technicians ensure the maintenance and correct use of the equipment, develop applications for the techniques available and train the researchers in preparing samples, using the equipment and its applications, and processing data. Moreover, the Unit managers use their technical and scientific expertise to assist in the Institute research projects.
