Strategic Area

The Strategic Area is dedicated to the implementation of two of ICIQ’s crucial principles: generating competitive revenue to fund its activities, and promoting knowledge and technology transfer from the ICIQ to industry.

The Area coordinates three units: Research Projects Management, with the mission to support the Institute in the generation of competitive resources from research funding programs at the regional, national and European level; Industrial Property, responsible for the management of intellectual property (IP) generated at the institute and the subsequent IP transfer to industry; and Business Development, with the mission of actively promoting collaborations with industry.

ICIQ’s Technology Transfer strategy has resulted in the creation of two Technology Development Units, Crysforma, oriented to give scientific and technological support in the field of pharmaceutical solid state development and CSOL oriented to commercially exploit the diverse catalyst libraries and catalyst know-how developed at the institute.

Moreover, two collaborative research projects with industry have evolved into Joint Industry - ICIQ Units, one with a large national pharmaceutical laboratory (Esteve-ICIQ) and another with a multinational chemical company (Henkel-ICIQ).
